PR No. 70/2026–2027
Lawngtlai, 8 June 2026:The Chief Executive Member of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), C. Lalsawmzuala, today visited the Residential School premises at College Veng to assess the feasibility of relocating certain LADC offices there.
As the current LADC Executive Secretariat Main Building has become old and is no longer considered sufficiently safe for continued use, plans are being considered to temporarily relocate some departments and offices to the Residential School premises until a new office building is constructed. During the visit, the CEM, along with representatives of the College Veng Village Council and the Young Lai Association (YLA), jointly inspected the site and discussed ways to make more effective use of the available land and buildings.
The inspection also took into account proposals and requests submitted by local community leaders regarding the optimal utilization of the premises and existing structures for the benefit of the public.
Following the inspection and discussions, the General Administration Department (GAD), LADC, has been tasked with conducting a detailed assessment of the buildings and available rooms and preparing a plan for the relocation of the departments and offices concerned.
The CEM also visited the Executive Member’s Quarter site at College Veng and reviewed proposed measures for the construction of drainage channels to improve water flow in the area.
He was accompanied by C. Hrangthianga, M.C. Lalbiakliana, Lathanzara, and other officials.
