1.        Department Name : Law & Judicial Department

 

2.        Mission Entitlement : The Law & Judicial Department plays a crucial role in ensuring Justice, Peace and good Governance within Lai Autonomous District Council areas.

 

The purpose & objectives of Law & Judicial department of LADC is:-

 

1)        To provide legal advice and support to the council and its departments.

2)        To draft and review laws, rules and regulations for the governance of 

LADC.

3)        To ensure effective administration of Justice within LADC.

4)        To promote peace, harmony and dispute resolution amongst the communities.

5)        To safeguard the rights and interest of the people of LADC.

 

3.         Allocation of Business :

            Litigation : Handling court cases, representing the council in legal matters.

 

4          Functioning :

  

  1. Managing the administration of courts, tribunals and judicial offices under LADC.
  2. The department functions under the supervision of the Executive Secretary who report to the Chief Executive Member of LADC.
  3. Team includes I (me) President and Recordr 1 (one) Senior Judicial Officer 1 (one) Superintendent, Process Server and other Clerical Assistants.
  4. There are two Intermediate District Council Court under LADC, 1 Intermediate District Council Court at Lawngtlai and Bualpui (Ng) respectively.

5.         Achievement :

 

  1. Disposal of cases : Timely disposed of cases, reducing back log and ensuring justice.
  2. Building public trust and confidence in the judicial system.

 

6.         Initiative and projects :

 

The Law and Judicial Department of LADC is not having any ongoing projects. However, court building at Lawngtlai was constructed from LADC own sources.
