PR No. 22/2026–2027
Lawngtlai, April 23, 2026: Yesterday, on April 22, 2026, the Chief Executive Member (LADC), Pu C. Lalsawmzuala, attended the 7th General Conference of the Bawm Students’ Association (BSA) held at Hruitezawl as the Chief Guest. He expressed his appreciation for the successful and well-organized conduct of the conference.
In his speech, Pu C. Lalsawmzuala emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity among the Bawm community. He illustrated this with an example:
“The Red Indians were once a brave and fearless people, unafraid of others, including their own rivals. However, today they are confined within their own land like protected animals. This happened because of their lack of unity. Therefore, just as we often speak of the bravery and unity of our forefathers, we must remain united and work together today. Unity is the key to progress.”
He further urged the gathering to preserve their ethnic identity and language, while also striving for advancement in education. He encouraged maintaining stronger relationships with other Zo ethnic groups such as the Lusei, Lai, Mara, Hmar, and others, and stressed the importance of protecting their land and heritage.
At the conference, Pu H. Vanlaltanpuia, Executive Member (Education Department, LADC), attended as Guest of Honour and encouraged Bawm students to pursue education seriously and give their best efforts, stating, “If we stand together, we will continue to move forward.”
Pu HC. Lalengkima, Executive Member in charge of the Forest Department, also addressed the gathering. He advised members of the Mizoram Bawm Students’ Association (MBSA) to preserve their identity while prioritizing education. He encouraged learning not only their mother tongue but also Hindi and English to support future progress and contribute meaningfully to society.
The CEM was accompanied by other Executive Members and officials during the event.
