PR No. 89/2026–2027

Lawngtlai, July 9, 2026: Today, the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), Pu C. Lalsawmzuala, visited and inspected the Old Lai House Building. During the inspection, he stated that since the building has become quite old, all necessary repairs and maintenance work would be taken up in a phased manner as required.

The CEM said that Lai House is a very important institution for the Lai community, the district, and the public. He acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the staff and encouraged them to continue serving with commitment.

He observed that the building has aged considerably and is no longer adequately protected from rainwater leakage. As a result, the walls have become damp, several portions of the cement have deteriorated, and various parts of the structure now require renovation and repair. After inspecting the site, he directed that plans be prepared immediately so that the required repair and renovation works can be carried out as early as possible, subject to the availability of funds.

The CEM is currently on an official tour to Shillong and Aizawl, where he is meeting various government officials. Yesterday, he met the Governor of Mizoram and discussed issues and challenges facing the LADC. During today's inspection of the Lai House Old Building, he was accompanied by Pu Lalropuia Chinzah (Executive Member, Revenue), Pu HC. Vanlalruatpuia (Senior Revenue & Settlement Officer), Pi Lalhminghlupuii Thangen (DRC), and Pu C. Lawmsangzuala (S&WMO).
