Lawngtlai, 29th May 2026 – As part of the ongoing initiatives of the Clean Lawngtlai Committee under the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), extensive preparations are underway in accordance with the Solid & Waste Management Rules 2026 to implement segregation of waste into four categories within Lawngtlai town. In connection with this initiative, Chawnhu Veng has been selected as the “Model Village” from among the localities within Lawngtlai town.
To discuss the matter and plan future activities, a meeting was held today at the office chamber of Chairman Pu JB. Vanhoy, Executive Member i/c Sanitation Department, with leaders of the Clean Lawngtlai Committee and representatives of Chawnhu locality.
The important meeting was attended by Sanitation & Waste Management Officer Pu C. Lawmsangzuala and staff members, Village Council President (VCP) and representatives of various NGOs from Chawnhu locality, as well as UD&PA Lawngtlai representative Nl VL. Ramnunsangi, Manager.
Key discussions during the meeting included the formation of a new “Sanitation Committee” to strengthen waste segregation, cleanliness, and sanitation efforts within Chawnhu Veng. The participants also discussed conducting intensive awareness campaigns to educate residents on proper waste segregation methods. In addition, plans were made to widely disseminate public awareness messages through loudspeaker announcements and various publicity measures to ensure clear communication among the public.
The Clean Lawngtlai Committee highly appreciated the cooperation and commitment shown by the leaders of Chawnhu locality. As Chawnhu Veng takes on the role of a Model Village, the committee expressed strong hope that its efforts would become an example for the whole of Lawngtlai town.
