PR No. 91/2026-2027

Lawngtlai, July 17, 2026:Today, the Executive Member of LADC in charge of the Environment, Forest & Climate Change Department, Pu H.C. Lalengkima, along with officers of the Forest Department, carried out a tree plantation programme along National Highway-02 near Thingkah.

Speaking on the occasion, Pu H.C. Lalengkima stated that on the observance of Green LADC Day 2026 on June 5, 2026, a large number of trees were planted and the programme was celebrated successfully. He said that continuous efforts are being made to nurture and protect the trees that have been planted, and that the Forest Department has also actively undertaken plantation drives through collective efforts.

He further remarked that as climate change continues to intensify, global temperatures are rising steadily. Therefore, for the benefit of future generations and to ensure a cleaner environment and a healthier planet, greater emphasis should be placed on tree plantation. He expressed his happiness at being able to participate in the plantation programme together with Forest Department officers, adding that this was, to the best of his knowledge, the first such joint initiative. He hoped that similar activities would continue in the future and urged the public not only to plant more trees but also to take responsibility for protecting and preserving them.

Pu K. Lalromawia, DCCF, also addressed the gathering. He stated that this was the first time the Forest Department officers had organized such a plantation drive collectively. He expressed appreciation for having an Executive Member like Pu H.C. Lalengkima, who consistently supports the department and actively contributes to its various initiatives. On behalf of the department’s officers, he conveyed his gratitude and expressed hope that the strong cooperation between the department and the Executive Member would continue to bring positive progress and achievements in the future.
