PR No. 84/2026–2027

Lawngtlai, July 2, 2026: Today, the Environment, Forest & Climate Change Department of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), led by Executive Member Pu H.C. Lalengkima, carried out a tree plantation maintenance and cleanliness drive along NH-02. During the programme, saplings requiring replacement were replanted, while officers and staff actively participated in cleaning the surroundings and maintaining the existing plantations.

Speaking on the occasion, Pu H.C. Lalengkima stated that the LADC has been observing Green LADC Day every year since 2015, during which thousands of trees have been planted. He expressed satisfaction that the initiative has yielded encouraging results over the years. However, he emphasized that planted trees require continuous care and protection, including the preservation of mature trees. He said that this community service programme was organised to ensure proper maintenance of the plantations and affirmed that the Forest Department would continue to make every possible effort in this regard.

He further appealed to all departments under the LADC to take responsibility for maintaining the trees planted within their respective jurisdictions. He said that through collective efforts, a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment could be preserved for present and future generations. He also encouraged the public to plant as many trees as possible during the current plantation season.

Pu K. Lalromawia, DCCF, LADC, also spoke about the importance of sustained care and protection of planted trees. He particularly urged all officials and staff of the Forest Department to recognize their responsibility in safeguarding and nurturing the trees under their care, while carrying out their official duties with dedication.
