Lawngtlai, August 18, 2026: An appreciation and felicitation ceremony was held today at the Chamber of the Chief Executive Member (CEM), LADC, in honour of Pu H. Zohmingthanga, Headmaster of Sianglairun Middle School, Cheural, who received the State Award to Teacher–2026. The programme was organised by the Education & Human Resources Department (Middle School), LADC.
The programme was chaired by Pu K. Lalthanzara, Executive Secretary, LADC. In his speech, he stated that two teachers from within the LADC area had previously received the National Award for Teachers, while one teacher had received the State Award. He also highlighted that Pu H. Zohmingthanga is the first Middle School teacher from the LADC area to receive such an honour.
Pu C. Lalsawmzuala, Chief Executive Member, LADC, expressed his happiness at Pu H. Zohmingthanga receiving the State-level award. He stated that the award was well deserved, as he had personally witnessed and recognised his dedication to his work and the manner in which he manages the school. He praised Pu Zohmingthanga for his intelligence, creativity and ability to make effective use of the available resources and materials in his surroundings. He also appreciated his contribution to developing practical and creative skills among students. Beyond the prescribed textbooks, he further commended his efforts in guiding students to value cleanliness and hygiene.
The CEM stated that although Lawngtlai District and the LADC continue to face challenges in the field of education, it is a matter of great pride that a dedicated and progressive teacher from the district has received such a prestigious honour. He emphasised that the award is not merely a personal achievement for Pu H. Zohmingthanga, but is also an honour for the LADC as a whole.
He further said that Pu H. Zohmingthanga’s achievement would serve as a model and inspiration for other teachers, while also presenting a new challenge for them to strive for greater excellence. On the occasion, the CEM presented a bouquet and a written felicitation message to the awardee.
Pu H. Vanlaltanpuia, Executive Member in charge of Middle School Education, also spoke on the occasion. He described the recognition of Pu H. Zohmingthanga as a great achievement and stated that the award was a fitting recognition of his hard work, dedication and commitment to education. He expressed his happiness, as the department in charge of education, that such a deserving teacher exists within the LADC area. He hoped that the honour would provide renewed encouragement and motivation to other teachers. He also presented a written felicitation message to Pu H. Zohmingthanga.
Speaking on the occasion, Pu H. Zohmingthanga, State Awardee, expressed his gratitude and humility, stating that the honour was not solely the result of his personal efforts or merit. He attributed the achievement to the support and guidance of the LADC leaders, his colleagues in the LADC Education Department, his fellow teachers and staff at Cheural Sianglairun Middle School, the DEO, Lawngtlai, and, above all, the grace of God.
He stated that receiving the award should not be regarded as the end of his journey, but rather as a new challenge to move forward and strive for greater achievements. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to CEM Pu C. Lalsawmzuala and EM Pu H. Vanlaltanpuia, Education Department (Middle School), LADC, for organising the felicitation programme in his honour.
Pu B. Lalhnuna, Elementary Education Officer, also felicitated Pu H. Zohmingthanga and conveyed his best wishes for his continued journey and future endeavours.
