PR No. 69/2026–2027

Lawngtlai, June 5, 2026 : Green LADC Day 2026 was observed today at the LADC Complex, Lawngtlai. Prior to the tree plantation programme, a formal meeting was held at the venue. The Chief Guest of the programme was Pu HC. Lalengkima, Executive Member, LADC, Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change.

In his address, Pu HC. Lalengkima conveyed his appreciation to all individuals and organisations who contributed their efforts, time, and cooperation towards the successful observance of Green LADC Day 2026, including the Mizoram Journalists’ Association (MJA), Lawngtlai. He stated that Green LADC Day has been observed since 2015, during which approximately 3,370 saplings have been planted, with encouraging progress being observed over the years.

He further stated that the theme for this year is:

“Let us create a clean environment through tree plantation.”

He emphasized that irrespective of the number of saplings planted, proper care and maintenance must be ensured after plantation. He added that the saplings planted during the event should be nurtured and monitored even after five years. He cautioned that the objectives of such initiatives would not be achieved if proper aftercare is neglected, despite the expenditure involved. He therefore urged all departments to ensure continuous maintenance of the saplings planted during the current year.

He also announced that a cash incentive of Rs. 10,000 would be awarded to the department demonstrating the best maintenance of planted saplings.

The programme was chaired by Pu K. Lalthanzara, Executive Secretary, LADC, and conducted under the guidance of Pu C. Sangliana, DCF.
