Lawngtlai, April 11, 2025: The Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant (FSTP) at KMMTTP Road in Lawngtlai was inaugurated by Pu T. Lalengmuana E.M., i/c. Local Administration Department, LADC, today at 3:00 p.m., to facilitate public sanitation. This project is a part of the funding from the 15th Finance Commission for 2020-2021 and 2022-2023 tied fund, where the Local Administration Department, LADC, and the Lawngtlai Town Village Councils are actively involved in its implementation. The plant aims to address various sanitation issues, providing solutions to improve overall hygiene standards, and Pu T. Lalengmuana E.M. officially inaugurated it today.

Pu T. Lalengmuana mentioned that Lawngtlai Town is becoming a Trade Centre with its continuous growth, which will greatly benefit residents, improving their quality of life. He emphasized that through collaborative efforts and proactive measures, the community can effectively rise to meet their sanitation needs. He remarked that the need for sanitation facilities is a critical concern for Mizoram, and securing the FSTP is crucial in addressing this. The collaboration between the LAD and the Sanitation Department made it possible through all the hurdles and he wish they will ensure that the plant operates effectively. He also said that the FSTP will be operated in collaboration with Agriculture and Horticulture Department.

Pu K. Hre Kung, Executive Member also gave a speech, stating that he is grateful to have a functional treatment plant since it is foundational for addressing sanitation concerns and that he is thankful to have Executive Members committed to facilitating its success. He noted the importance of timely maintenance, monitoring, and community involvement in sustaining these facilities.

The inauguration saw participation from Pu C. Lalrinzuala, Local Administrative Officer as the Chairman, along with Upa Lalsangpuia A.E. who performed devotion. Pu J. Zahlira (Ex-LAO), and Pu K. Laldinmawia, President, Lawngtlai District VC Association, also contributed in giving their inputs and gave speeches. Pu Ezekiela Lawmsangpuia, JE LADC, gave the Technical Report, while Nl. Lalzawmpuii Hrahsel entertained everyone present with a song, and Pu H. Lalrammawizuala ALAO delivered the closing remarks.

In attendance were Pu K. Hre Kung EM, Pu Lallawmsanga Apetow E.M., Pu CL. Lianzuala E.M., Pu BN. Thangpuia EM, and Pu Lalramfawna MDC, along with officials including Pu C. Lalhmunsiama, Sr. Sanitation Officer and Pu C. Lawmsangzuala I&PRO. Additionally, Village Council members within the town and other officials were present.
