PR No. 12/2026–2027
LAWNGTLAI, April 16, 2026 – A significant initiative titled ‘THO LAW DIR TUAH’ (Stand Up, Lawngtlai) aimed at bringing progressive development to Lawngtlai town was officially launched today at the DC Conference Hall.
The programme was graced by Dr. Lorrain Lalpekliana Chinzah, Adviser to the Chief Minister, as the Chief Guest, and was chaired by Pu Donny Lalruatsanga, Deputy Commissioner of Lawngtlai.
On the occasion, Pu C. Lalsawmzuala, Chief Executive Member (CEM), LADC, stated that the initiative poses an important challenge to the public. He remarked, “Our forefathers had the courage to stand firm in the face of hardship and conflict. Today, we face challenges in maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and proper traffic management. If we truly inherit their courage, we must not fall short in making our town clean and traffic-friendly.” He further assured that the Council would extend full support to the initiative and emphasized the need for citizens of Lairam to be prepared to “stand up” for cleanliness, hygiene, and better management of the town.
Pu JB. Vanhoy, Executive Member (EM), LADC, also urged the youth and the general public to take personal responsibility. He said, “It is not right to maintain cleanliness within our homes while neglecting our surroundings. The DC Office alone cannot bring change; it requires collective efforts from NGOs, Village Councils, and the public.”
To effectively implement the programme, a District Level Committee has been constituted (with the Deputy Commissioner as Chairman and the Executive Secretary, LADC as Member Secretary). Under this, the Traffic Enforcement & Task Force and Clean Kawng Committee have already been formed, and proposed measures will be actively pursued.
Pu Donny Lalruatsanga, Deputy Commissioner, highlighted the importance of regulating cleanliness, aesthetics, and traffic management in the town. He emphasized that coordinated efforts between the State Government and ADC would lead to meaningful progress.
During the programme, Pu PC. Lalchunglura, MPS, Superintendent of Police, also delivered a brief address. Pu Jammy Vanhmingliana, SDC, presented the structure and action plan of the ‘Tho Law Dir Tuah’ programme through a PowerPoint presentation, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Pu HC Vanlalruatpuia.
