PR. NO. 74/2025–2026
Lawngtlai, February 24, 2026 – Today, the Deputy Commissioner of Lawngtlai District, Pu Donny Lalruatsanga, called on the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), Pu C. Lalsawmzuala, at his office. They held detailed discussions on various measures for the development of Lawngtlai town and its surrounding areas.
The CEM highlighted that the newly prepared “Road Map” and development plans aimed at improving cleanliness and traffic management in Lawngtlai town are scheduled to be implemented from April this year. He emphasized the importance of close coordination with the District Administration in all matters requiring action beyond the jurisdiction of the ADC.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that cooperation between the District Administration and the LADC is fundamental to the district’s progress. While the District Administration represents the Government, he noted that the ADCs are the actual implementing authorities on the ground.
Referring to Lawngtlai town’s 8th position in the Mizoram Cleanliness Competition 2025, renewed efforts will be undertaken in sanitation and traffic management. Under the “Stand Up Lawngtlai” initiative, steps will be intensified to promote cleanliness and hygiene, improve waste management systems, maintain public assets, and strictly regulate roadside dumping.
In the interest of public safety, there are plans to introduce an Overnight Parking Fee. Additionally, to avoid jurisdictional overlaps between the Motor Vehicles Act (MVI Acts) and ADC authority, efforts are being made to establish a clear-cut authority framework.
Regarding border security and prevention of illegal entry, it was informed that a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is currently being drafted. On international trade matters, an Interface Meeting has already been held with the Deputy Commissioner of Siaha, and further actions will continue within the district’s jurisdiction. Concerning the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and trade-related activities, plans are being made to strengthen regulations and ensure better enforcement within ADC areas.
The meeting was attended by Pu K. Lalthanzara (ES, LADC); Pu HC. Vanlalruatpuia (Transport Officer, LADC); Pu C. Lawmsangzuala (S&WMO, LADC); and Pu Zonunchama Ralte, MIS, DIPRO Lawngtlai.
