Lawngtlai, May 15, 2026: Executive Member of Lai Autonomous District Council in charge of Environment & Forest Department, HC. Lalengkima today officially released the book “Common Birds of Lawngtlai District” at his office. The book was jointly prepared by Fanchun Malsawmhlua and the Environment, Forest & Climate Change Department, LADC.

The book release programme was chaired by K. Lalromawia, while a review and introduction of the book was presented by Fanchun Malsawmtluanga.

Speaking at the event, HC. Lalengkima expressed happiness and pride over the publication, stating that it is the first valuable and comprehensive book of its kind for the district. He noted that the book contains photographs of more than 200 bird species found within the district and praised the dedicated efforts of the Forest Department and the author in bringing out the publication.

He further expressed hope that the book would inspire the people of Lawngtlai District to develop greater awareness and interest in wildlife and bird conservation. He also assured continued support from the department for producing even more improved and informative editions in the future.

Officials and staff of the Forest Department, members of the Mizoram Journalists’ Association Lawngtlai, PPA members, and invited guests attended the programme.

The book “Common Birds of Lawngtlai District” consists of 110 pages and features photographs and brief descriptions of 218 bird species.
