Lawngtlai, March 18, 2026:Today, the Law Committee of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) convened a meeting at the LADC CEM Conference Hall. The meeting was chaired by Pu K. Lalthanzara, Executive Secretary, LADC, who is also the Chairman of the Law Committee.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman stated that this was the first meeting of the Law Committee for the current term. He urged all members to carefully deliberate on important matters and to actively participate in the discussions.

During the meeting, three (3) agenda items were taken up for consideration:

1. The Lai Autonomous District Council (Entry of Goods into Market Tax) Rules, 2026

2. The Lai Autonomous District Council (Entertainment Tax) Rules, 2026

3. The Lai Autonomous District Council (Land Holding and Settlement) Act, 2026

Pu Ramhmachhuanmawia, Judicial Officer, LADC and Secretary of the Law Committee, presented an overview of the agenda items before the members. He also distributed draft copies and proposals for amendments. Suggestions received from various departments were also highlighted.

The draft rules were thoroughly examined, and it was decided that necessary amendments should first be made in line with the principal regulations. It was also agreed to initiate the process for amending the LADC (Land Holding and Settlement) Act, 2002.

The Committee further resolved that the Secretary should compile the suggestions and views expressed by the members during the meeting and prepare revised drafts, which will be finalized in the next Law Committee meeting.
