Lawngtlai, October 18, 2024: In a significant development for students from the Lai Autonomous District, the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), Pu C. Lalmuanthanga, recently engaged in discussions with key officials from the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) in Shillong. Following this meeting Pu C. Rongura, Executive Member in charge of the Transport Department, and Pu Lalthanmawia Colney, Deputy Chief Whip met with officials of KHADC.
The primary focus of the meeting was the establishment of the Lai Students' Hostel in Neigrims, New Shillong. This initiative aims to provide a safe and conducive living environment for Lai students pursuing their studies in Shillong. Both CEMs emphasized the importance of this facility, acknowledging the pressing need for affordable accommodation that supports academic success.
Shri Pyniaid Sing Syiem, Chief Executive Member of the KHADC, alongside his Deputy CEM, Shri. Pynshngainlang Syiem, expressed their unwavering commitment to this project. They highlighted that the hostel would significantly alleviate housing challenges faced by students and foster a supportive community for their educational endeavors.
The discussions underscored the urgency of the project, with officials outlining plans to ensure its timely implementation. The Lai Students' Hostel is expected to cater specifically to the needs of students, providing them with essential amenities that promote both their academic and personal growth.
As preparations advance, the LADC is optimistic about the positive impact the hostel will have on the student community, making education more accessible and manageable for Lai students in Shillong.
