Lawngtlai, November 27, 2024: Today at 11:00 AM, Pu Andrew Laltlanzara, Executive Member in charge of Middle School Education, Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), inaugurated the 23rd Executive Member in charge of Sports & Youth Service Department LADC Running Trophy Chess Championship, Mizoram Rating Tournament 2024, scheduled to take place from November 27th - 29th, 2024.
While addressing the event, the chief guest expressed appreciation to the Chess Association for their invitation and stated:
"Even if I am not an expert chess player, it is a joy to be part of such a meaningful gathering. Chess is a highly respected and disciplined sport, and its players demonstrate intelligence and focus. I hope this tournament inspires players to continue honing their skills, aiming not only for success in Mizoram but also at the national and international levels. I extend my best wishes to all participants to compete with dedication and determination."
The chief guest emphasized the importance of sports as a tool for development, highlighting LADC's ongoing efforts to promote sports in various forms and achieve notable results. He also encouraged all players participating in this Chess Championship to give their best.
The event was presided over by Pu C. Vanlalruata, President of the Lawngtlai Chess Association.
Pu C. Lalhmangaihkima, Secretary-in Mizoram Chess Association, read out a special message from the association's President.
The program also included reports and presentations on significant matters.
A total of 49 players from different districts are participating in this tournament.
Pu Andrew Laltlanzara, E.M., was accompanied by Pu F. Lalhmachhuana, EEO, Middle School Education.
