LAWNGTLAI, January 27, 2026:Today at 1:30 p.m., in accordance with the directives of the Hon’ble Governor and the Government of Mizoram, Pu C. Lalsawmzuala, MDC (12—Lawngtlai Chandmary), was administered the oath of office as the new Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the 12th Term of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC).

The swearing-in ceremony was held at the LADC Hall and was conducted by Pu K. Lalthanzara, Executive Secretary, LADC, who read out the Governor’s appointment order received through the DC & MA Department. Rev. H. Lalsangvunga offered prayers, committing the occasion and the leaders to God. Pu Donny Lalruatsanga, Deputy Commissioner, Lawngtlai, administered the oath of office, formally inducting Pu C. Lalsawmzuala as the CEM.

Addressing the gathering, the newly inducted CEM Pu C. Lalsawmzuala stated that after a prolonged period of hardship faced by employees and the general public due to the absence of a party-based government, the formation of the United Legislature Party (ULP) government marks a significant moment for the Lai region. He appealed to his colleagues to work wholeheartedly for the welfare of the Lai people by fulfilling the promises made to the public during the MDC elections.

The CEM outlined the vision of the new government, emphasizing effective utilization of the District Council’s powers to generate revenue, review existing laws, introduce better planning measures, and uphold punctuality and integrity in official functioning. He also expressed gratitude to the leaders of the MNF and Congress for their support in forming the ULP government, and thanked the Hon’ble Governor General (Dr.) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd.), and the Chief Minister Pu Lalduhawma for guiding and facilitating the formation of a stable government.

Along with this, the newly appointed Executive Members (EMs) of the ULP Government were announced as follows:

1. Pu Sanghuliana Mualchin – Deputy CEM

2. Pu Lalzahawma Chinzah – Executive Member

3. Pu Hc. Lalengkima – Executive Member

4. Pu H. Vanlaltanpuia – Executive Member

As reported earlier, on January 26, 2026, Pu C. Hrangthianga, MDC (14—Lawngtlai College Veng), was sworn in as the new Protem Chairman before the Deputy Commissioner. It was also noted that Pu C. Lalsawmzuala, CEM, LADC, assumed charge of his office today.
