Lawngtlai, April 29, 2025: Today, Shri Antar Singh Arya, Chairperson of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), along with Shri Nirupam Chakma, Dr. Asha Lakra, and Shri Jatothu Hussain, Honorable Members, visited the three Autonomous District Councils in Mizoram.

After attending the Yuva Samvat event (CADC Foundation Day) held at Kamalanagar, the headquarters of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), the delegation proceeded at 2:00 PM to Siaha, the headquarters of the Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC). At the MADC Chief Executive Member’s bungalow in Siaha, a cordial reception was organized. During this event, on behalf of LADC, officials namely - Mr. David C. Zothantluanga, P&DO, Mr. C. Lawmsangzuala, I&PRO, and Mr. Joseph Lalhmingthanga Chinzah, Senior Audit Officer, were also present.

During the visit, Shri Antar Singh Arya, Chairperson of NCST, expressed in his speech that this was their first time visiting Mizoram as a team from NCST. He conveyed deep respect and appreciation for the Autonomous District Councils and assured strong support. He reflected on the NCST’s mission to promote tribal welfare, mentioning that the first task he did was meeting the President of India, Mrs. Droupadi Murmu, highlighting the critical importance of tribal development. He also shared a personal connection, stating that he has roots in the tribal communities of Madhya Pradesh, which strengthens his commitment to advancing tribal welfare. He emphasized his dedication to addressing the challenges faced by tribal people and pledged to work tirelessly to improve their lives.

After the program, a joint meeting was held with the Lai Autonomous District Council and the Mara Autonomous District Council. The Lai Autonomous District Council submitted a memorandum concerning the welfare of the Lai community, which was handed over by Mr. David Zothantluanga, P&DO of LADC. He also presented Lai shawl on behalf of LADC.
