Lawngtlai, March 23, 2026: Today, Pu HC. Lalthawmliana, Executive Member in charge of the Taxation Department, Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), visited the Taxation Checkgates located at Pangkhua and Sangau.

During the visit, the Executive Member encouraged the duty personnel, acknowledging their important role in safeguarding the state and the community. He urged them to perform their duties with sincerity and dedication. He also stressed the need for strict vigilance to prevent smuggling and the movement of illegal substances, including drugs.

Pu HC. Lalthawmliana further instructed that while collecting taxes for the government, officials should ensure that no unnecessary inconvenience is caused to the public and that only the prescribed rates are collected. He emphasized the importance of remaining free from substance abuse while on duty and carrying out responsibilities with integrity and a sense of patriotism.

He warned that strict action would be taken against any misconduct or malpractice, stating, “Any wrongdoing or irregularities will be dealt with firmly, and therefore utmost caution must be maintained.”

The Executive Member also noted that new personnel have already been appointed at the checkgates and that arrangements are being made to implement 24-hour duty operations. He inspected the checkgate buildings and other necessary infrastructure, assuring that required repairs and improvements would be carried out at the earliest. He further mentioned that the LADC Government is taking steps to expedite land allocation for the construction of proper buildings for Taxation staff.

He was accompanied during the visit by Pu JB. Vanboy, Executive Member (RD Department, etc.), Pu Premo Kanti, Deputy Chief Whip, and Pu Lalrinpuia, Inspector, Taxation Department.
