Lawngtlai, On August 10, 2024, at 11:00 AM, the 1st Conference of the Autonomous Councils under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India was held at The Heritage Club Tripura Castle, Shillong.

During this conference, Pu C. Lalmuanthanga, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), addressed the attendees. He highlighted the significant issues faced by the Khasi Hills Autonomous District and the challenges related to tribal welfare. Pu Lalmuanthanga also discussed the importance of strengthening the role of Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) in India, emphasizing the need for unity and effective action.

The conference featured representatives from various Autonomous District Councils across India. Discussions covered important matters and strategies for effective governance. The meeting concluded with a dinner hosted by Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Rev. J.J. Mohan Nichols Roy, at the Vivanta Hotel at 3:30 PM.
