Lawngtlai, January 6, 2026:

Today, two Members of District Council (MDCs) filed their nomination papers for the election of the Chairman of the 12th Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC).

The election for the Chairman will be held tomorrow, January 7, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in the LADC Session Hall. Filing of nominations is open until 3:00 p.m today.

The candidates who filed their nominations for the post of Chairman are as follows:

1. Pu Sanghuliana Mualchin (MNF) – Sitting MDC from Lungtian Constituency, filed his nomination before Pi FL. Kungpuii, Deputy Secretary, LADC, on behalf of the Lairam Legislature Party. His nomination was proposed by Pu HC. Lalthawmliana, MDC, and seconded by Dr. K. Lalchhuanpuia, MDC. At the time of filing the nomination, he was accompanied by Pu T. Zakunga, ZPM Legislature Party Leader, along with MNF/ZPM MDCs and party leaders.

2. Pu H. Vanlaltanpuia (INC) – Sitting MDC from Tuithumhnar Constituency, also filed his nomination before the Deputy Secretary today at 2:45 p.m. His nomination was proposed by Pu HC. Lalengkima, MDC, and seconded by Pu J. Lalrawngbawla, MDC. He was accompanied by Pu C. Ngunlianchunga, Congress Legislature Party Leader, along with Congress MDCs.

The Chairman election will be conducted under the supervision of Pu Lallura Chinzah, Protem Chairman, LADC
