Lawngtlai, January 27, 2026:
Today, two Members of District Council (MDCs) filed their nomination papers for the election to the post of Chairman of the 12th Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC).
The election for the Chairman will be held on January 28, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the LADC Session Hall. The time for filing nominations will remain open until 3:00 p.m. today.
The candidates who filed nominations for the post of Chairman are:
1. Pu C. Lalmuanthanga, MDC (6–Lungpher South Constituency) filed his nomination on behalf of the United Legislature Party before Pi FL. Kungpuii, Deputy Secretary (DCS), LADC. His nomination was proposed by Pu HC. Lalthawmliana, MDC and seconded by MC. Lalbiakliana, MDC. At the time of filing his nomination, Pu C. Lalsawmzuala, MDC, MNF Legislature Party Leader, along with MNF/Congress MDCs and party leaders, were present in support.
2. Pu T. Lalchhuanvawra, MDC, ZPM (4–Cheural Constituency) also filed his nomination for the post of Chairman before Pi FL. Kungpuii, Deputy Secretary (DCS), LADC. His nomination was proposed by Pu Lallura Chinzah, MDC, ZPM (13–Lawngtlai Council Veng Constituency) and seconded by Dr. K. Lalchuanpuia, MDC. During the filing of his nomination, Pu T. Zakunga, MDC, ZPM Legislature Leader, along with other MDCs, were present in support.
The Chairman election will be held at the LADC Session Hall under the supervision of Pu C. Hrangthianga, MDC, Protem Chairman, LADC.
