Lawngtlai, November 20, 2024: The YLA General Conference and Golden Jubilee celebration, which began yesterday, continues today, November 20, 2024, with Pu C. Lalmuanthanga, Chief Executive Member, LADC, attending as the Chief Guest.
In his speech, Pu C. Lalmuanthanga expressed deep gratitude for being invited as the Chief Guest at the prestigious 50th General Conference and Golden Jubilee celebration. He extended his respect and admiration to the distinguished leaders and attendees, including Pu C. Ngunlianchunga, MLA, Executive Members, MDCs of LADC, YLA founder Pu F. Lalhulh, past leaders of CYLA, branch leaders, all YLA members, and everyone involved in organizing the Golden Jubilee event.
He highlighted the significance of reaching the 50-year milestone, comparing it to the maturity of a person who turns 50. He emphasized that the YLA’s membership, currently numbering approximately 56,000, must continue their efforts for the betterment of society. He expressed hope that future endeavors would lead to greater progress and welfare for their land and people.
He underscored the vital role of the YLA as a guiding force during times of struggle and distress within the community. Reflecting on their motto, "Safeguarding Identity and Heritage," he encouraged members to work earnestly to preserve their language and culture. He emphasized the importance of promoting the Lai language and its usage to ensure its survival, appealing to members to protect their heritage.
Pu C. Lalmuanthanga further urged the Lai people to work for progress with unity and devotion, asking God for blessings to overcome challenges. He called on members to continue the mission started by their ancestors, who worked tirelessly for their land and people with unwavering commitment and peace. He prayed for the Lord’s protection and guidance to further safeguard their rights and autonomy under the District Council.
As part of the Golden Jubilee celebration, the Jubilee Bell was rung, and 50 founding leaders of CYLA and past leaders of the Lai community were honored.
The event, chaired by Pu H.C. Vanlalruapuia, CYLA President, included a service led by Rev. B. Zazawna, who urged attendees to renew their spirit of unity. This was followed by a session to honor past leaders. Pu Joseph Lalhmingthanga, GS, presented the report, while various performers entertained the gathering.
Prominent figures such as Pu Lalhmachhuana, President of Central YMA, and the General Secretary of MZP delivered speeches. An awards ceremony for outstanding achievements in sports was held, and the YLA founder, Pu F. Lalhulh, also gave a heartfelt address. The event concluded with closing remarks from Pu V. Vanlianhrina, Adviser to CYLA.
Pu C. Lalmuanthanga, along with Executive Members, MDCs, Pu K. Lalthanzara (Executive Secretary of LADC), and other key officials, attended the celebration. The Jubilee celebration concluded with a grand community feast.
