Lawngtlai, February 10, 2025: The LADC Online Tax Portal Launching Programme was held today at the LADC CEM’s Conference Hall, with Pu C. Lalmuanthanga, Chief Executive Member (CEM), LADC, as the chief guest. In his speech, CEM Pu C. Lalmuanthanga stated that today’s event is a significant milestone for LADC. He expressed gratitude to Pu HK. Jessy Lalthahluana, Branch Manager, HDFC Lawngtlai, and his team, along with the LADC Land Revenue & Settlement Department, and the Information & Communication Technology Department staff, for their contributions to making tax payments more convenient for the people of Lairam.

During the Inauguration Address, Pu Lalropuia Chinzah, Executive Member in charge of the Information & Communication Technology Department, highlighted the importance of LADC’s initiatives and the benefits of the new Tax Portal:

1. Taxes Collected by Lai Autonomous District Council

LADC collects various taxes for public welfare and administrative functions, including:

  1. Professional Tax
  2. Entry of Goods into Market Tax
  3. Entry of Vehicle Tax
  4. Entertainment Tax
  5. Land Revenue Tax

Additionally, revenue is generated through Toll Gates, Parking Fees, and Royalty Payments.

2. Advancements in Tax Collection through Online Payment

To improve the tax collection system, LADC has been working on enabling online tax payments. However, due to financial constraints, full implementation was delayed. To address this issue, LADC has taken several important steps:

1. The Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Department was officially upgraded on July 9, 2024, and work has been ongoing since then.

2. The foundation for the LADC Tax Portal was laid through discussions between CEM Pu C. Lalmuanthanga and HDFC Lawngtlai Manager Pu HK. Jessy Lalthahluana, resulting in a positive outcome.

3. On September 11, 2024, Nl. Lalhmingmawii, Area Head of HDFC (Mizoram, Aizawl), visited Lawngtlai and held an important meeting with LADC officials. The decision was made to first implement online tax payment for Land Lease (Land Revenue & Settlement Department).

4. The LADC Online Tax Payment System remains optional for now, but departments are actively working to improve it for better accessibility. The aim is to allow people to pay taxes from the convenience of their homes, avoiding the need to visit LADC offices.

5. The LADC Tax Portal has been developed by the HDFC Qfix Team.

Pu HK. Jessy Lalthahluana, Branch Manager, HDFC Lawngtlai, also spoke at the event. He expressed deep appreciation for the successful collaboration between LADC and HDFC. He thanked CEM Pu C. Lalmuanthanga, Executive Member Pu Lalropuia Chinzah, and their team for their leadership and support. He assured that HDFC Bank will continue working towards making tax payments easier for the people and looks forward to further cooperation with other departments.

Following the Technical Report presentation by Pu C. Lawmsangzuala, ICT Officer, LADC, Pu A. Zaithanga, SR & SO, LADC, delivered a vote of thanks. The programme also included an online meeting with HDFC and Qfix team members from various locations in India, including Aizawl.
