PR.No.89/2024-2025
Lawngtlai, November 7, 2024: The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), Pu C. Lalmuanthanga, today inaugurated Bukbau, a new publication by the Association for Lai Language, at a ceremony held in the LADC Conference Hall, with many distinguished attendees present.
In his address, the CEM spoke about the rich cultural heritage of the Lai people, emphasizing the importance of preserving and sharing their unique traditions with a broader audience. He noted that the customs and identity of the Lai people are often unknown or overlooked by the rest of the world, which makes it crucial to document them accurately for both preservation and global understanding. He praised the Association for Lai Language for their efforts in publishing Bukbau in English, making it accessible to a wider audience as an invaluable resource on Lai culture. He also expressed gratitude to the previous LADC leaders, as well as to the intellectuals from the Lai community, who were instrumental in organizing the International Seminar on Exploring Lai Identity in 2019, which served as the foundation for this book.
The event was presided over by Pu B. Hmun Cung Nung, President of the Association for Lai Language, who highlighted that the publication Bukbau is a compilation of papers presented during the "International Seminar on Exploring Lai Identity," held from April 3-5, 2019.
Rev. C. Lalthangzuala offered the invocation prayer, followed by a book review from Rev. Vanlaldinpuia Aineh. The vote of thanks was delivered by Pu K. Lalchhankima. Other dignitaries present included Pu L. Daniala EM, Pu JB. Vanhoy EM, and Pu K. Lalthanzara, Executive Secretary of the LADC.
