Lawngtlai, December 19, 2024 – Pu C. Lalmuanthanga, Chief Executive Member of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), visited the District Jail, Lairam Motherless Home, and Lairam Rescue Centre today. As part of his visit, he presented a monetary contribution of Rs. 10,000 to each institution as a gesture of Christmas goodwill. This initiative aimed to encourage the residents and caretakers to celebrate Christmas and the New Year with joy and optimism.  

During his visit to the Lairam Rescue Centre and District Jail, Pu C. Lalmuanthanga delivered a message of encouragement to the residents. He urged them to focus on self-rehabilitation and to strive for reintegration into society. Emphasizing the importance of hope and determination, he remarked that individuals facing difficult circumstances should not view themselves as failures but as people with the potential to rebuild their lives. He further highlighted the critical role of these institutions in providing the necessary support for transformation and called for renewed efforts to improve their facilities and resources.  

At the Lairam Motherless Home, the CEM praised the dedication of the staff and acknowledged the challenges they face in their work. He emphasized the importance of enhancing their skills and capabilities to better care for the children. He expressed hope for continued support and improvements in the resources available to the home, ensuring a nurturing environment for the children under their care.  

Currently, the Lairam Rescue Centre houses 17 residents, while the District Jail in Lawngtlai accommodates 35 inmates. The Lairam Motherless Home is home to 35 children. These institutions play a significant role in providing care, rehabilitation, and support for those in need within the district.  

Pu C. Lalmuanthanga was accompanied by Pu Laltlawmlova Chinzah, Vice Chairman of the Planning Committee; Pu K. Lalthanzara, Executive Secretary of LADC; and other key officials. Their presence underscored the LADC’s commitment to fostering compassion, care, and rehabilitation across the district.
