1. DEPARTMENT NAME       :           Lai Autonomous District Council Board of School Education

 

  1. MISSION STATEMENT     :           The LADC, Board of School Education is committed to providing an exemplary education that fosters academic excellence, creativity and critical thinking. We also strive to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment in order to prepares students for success in an ever-changing global landscape.

 

  1. ALLOCATION OF BUSINESS :
  2. ACADEMIC AFFAIRS   :           The LADC, Board of School Education is mainly concerned with the Elementary Schools within the jurisdiction of LADC, i.e from Pre-primary stage upto Middle School. We develop Curriculum for the Elementary  School children as per SCERT norms and LAICA text-books are distributed free of cost to each and every elementary schools affiliated under LADCBSE. LADC Board of School Education also prescribed course of instructions including practice teaching, practical works and the like where necessary for Pre-Primary, Primary, Middle School, Adult Education and Teachers Training Institutes.

 

  1. EXAMINATION AND CERTIFICATIOIN      :           Ever since the LADC Board of School Education is established, it used to conduct Board exams for Middle School Leaving Certificate within LADC area to a certain period of time and after it comes to an end, Common Question Examinations for Class - IV and Class - VIII students are conducted till date. Accreditations and Certificate of Appreciation are grant to those students who have passed the examination securing a Top-10 positions.     

 

  1. ADMINISTRATION      :           Every Schools within the jurisdiction of LADC must take permission to establish a school whether it be Pre-Primary, Primary or Middle Schools. It also prescribe and administer school syllabus, curriculum, school calendar and school time-table. Regarding Finance and Budgeting, the Secretary Board of School Education shall prepare in respect of each financial year beginning on the first day of March an estimates of receipt and expenditure of the Board in the form specified in the Annexure, and get it scrutinised and finalised in the sitting of the Finance Committee for placing it before the Board in its annual meeting for confirmation.

 

  1. FUNCTIONING :     

 

  1. RESPONSIBILITIES :           The key responsibilities of the department includes :

(a). Setting educational policies

(b). Curriculum Development

(c). School Administration

(d). Printing of Progress Report Card for Elementary Education Class – I to VIII and distribute it to every elementary schools under LADCBSE by free of cost.

 

  1. PROCESSES  : 

 

(i). RECOGNITION OF SCHOOL              :           To recognize Middle, Primary, Pre-Primary Schools, Teachers Training Institutions, Professional and Vocational Schools in Lai Autonomous District area and to withdraw such recognitions on grounds considered reasonable subject to the provision of the LADC Board of School Education Rules.

 

(ii). CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT PROCESS            :           The LADC Board of School Education is to identify curriculum needs for the students and developing the curriculum framework according to the children’s need. As per the norms of NEP 2020 and National Curriculum Framework for foundational stage 2022, curriculum must be contextualized and rooted with content and pedagogy derived from children’s life experiences that reflect the familiar, i.e, the cultural and social context in which the child is growing.     

 

(iii)EXAMINATION PROCESS     :           Whenever the Board of School Education is conducting an examination, Question papers are prepared by the Board and scheduling of examination period are conducted by the Board including evaluation and result declaration.

  1. TEAM MEMBERS   :

 

(I)PRESIDENT    :           The President of the Board is a whole time fixed monthly salaried officer appointed on contract basis by the Executive Committee on terms and conditions agreed to between the person and the Executive Committee preferably an eminent scholar. He shall be appointed for a term of 3 years. It is the duty of the President to see the provisions of the LADCBSE  Rules 2001 are  faithfully observed and have all powers necessary for the purpose.

 

ii)VICE PRESIDENT :           Supports the President and perform the duties of his office and assumes responsibilities in his absence.

 

iii) SECRETARY        :           The Board of School Education Secretary is subjected to control the Board and be the Chief Administrative Officer of the Board. He is also subject to be responsible for seeing that the order of the Board are carried out.

 

iv) CONTROLLER OF EXAMINATIONS :           The Controller of examinations shall be responsible for conduct of all examinations of the Board with adequate powers including question paper setting and result declaration.

 

v) ACADEMIC OFFICER     :          He / She is responsible for managing and overseeing various aspects of academic programs within the jurisdiction of LADC.

Their duties may includes –

  1. Curriculum development and management
  2. Academic Policy implementation and review
  3. Academic scheduling and time-tabling
  4. Collaboration with faculty and department heads

vi)  ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF      :           Supports the Board with administrative tasks, record keeping and the likes.

vii) The LADC Board of School education typically comprises various committee to focus on specific areas and ensure effective governance. Here are the 6 committee under the LADC Board of School Education:-

1. Governing Board Committee

2. Examination Committee

3. Recognition Committee

4. Syllabus and Text Book Committee

5. Laica Committee

6. Finance Committee

 

                    These Committees enable the Board of School Education to efficiently manage various aspects of school education, ensuring a comprehensive approach to educational governance.  

 

5. ACHIEVEMENTS                    :           Ever since the Lai Autonomous District Council Board of School Education is established, the main objectives is to prescribe course of instructions which also imparts cultural awareness and expression providing children with a sense of identity, belonging, as well as an appreciation of other cultures and identities. Keeping in mind that, it is through the development of a strong sense and knowledge of their own cultural history, languages, arts and traditions that children can build a positive cultural identity and self-esteem, and since children learn concepts most rapidly and deeply in their own mother tongue, a new language subject called ‘LAICA’ is added to the curriculum for Primary and Middle School students. Since Laica is introduced as one amongst language subject, the Board of school education is concerned with the printing of LAICA text-books for all elementary schools under LADC and is distributed to each and every schools according to the students enrollment by force of cost till today.

                                                     Progress Report Card for each and every elementary schools affiliated under LADC are also printed by the Board of School Education and send it to all Headmaster / Headmistress every year.

                                                     Since it is the duty of the Board to impart high quality education to meet the diverse need of the students, Common Question Examination for Class-IV and Class-VIII are conducted every academic year and students who secure Top-10 positions are awarded with a cash prize along with an appreciation certificate.
